STEAMsport Virtual Summer STEAM Academy

After much consideration regarding the health and safety of your children as well as our staff, we have made the decision to switch our summer 2020 camps to a virtual format. We are very excited to provide our Virtual Summer STEAM Academy geared toward continuing student learning in a "hands-on" and fun environment.

All STEAMsport, Inc. Virtual STEAM Programs:

Video game

Unreal Video Game Development

June 15th - 19th, 2020

Students ages 13yr - 19yr

Students will learn how to create video games using Unreal gaming engine. In this course, we will explore Unreal from the ground up taking a look at the Unreal UI system and how we can use it effectively in our games. Whether you are a complete beginner or experienced Unreal user, this course will offer a lot of useful information about game development. Students will be challenged to create a simple game.

Introduction to Fashion Entreprenuership

June 22nd - 26th, 2020

Students ages 12yr - 19yr

Students will be learn about a complete fashion line cycle including logo creation, product design,marketing and business plans. Students will learn virtually using everyday items found around the house along with re-purposing clothes that they own. Students will be encouraged to continue to market their creations after the camp.

Media Production

June 29th - July 3rd, 2020 

Students ages 12yr - 19yr

Students will learn how to create media production projects using their mobile phone. Students will learn camera angle, pre/post production, lighting and editing. This course will culminate with a student media showcase.

Mobile App Development

July 6th - 10th, 2020  

Students ages 11yr - 19yr

Students will learn how to wireframe and create mobile applications. Applications can be share with other students using QR codes. This course immerses users in “tech-creativity” by providing an extensive toolset that encourages self-expression and discovery. The aim is to build confidence in learners through graduated and progressive exposure to increasingly challenging activities.

EV3 Robotics

July 13th - 17th, 2020

Student ages: 9yr - 19yr

Time: 11am - 12:30pm  

This course introduces students to basic Lego Mindstorms EV3 autonomous programming. Students will be challenged to design and program robots and then compete in virtual mini robotics competitions. This course does not require any prior knowledge of game design.

Intro to Video Game Design

July 13th - 17th, 2020

Time: 2:30pm - 4pm   

Students ages 9yr - 14yr

One of the very best ways to introduce students to the wonderful world of technology is through video games. This class is for students who have no prior experience creating video games.

In this course, students will use Scratch programming to create and program their very own video games. This a great way to introduce students to computer science concepts and terminology.

Students will also have the ability to make the games they created available for others to play.

Introduction to Computer Coding

July 13th - 17th, 2020

Students ages 5yr - 9yr

Time: 11am - 12pm 

This course introduces computer science and programming concepts through a visual coding language that is fun and accessible to people of all ages.

Your student will help the Foos turn programming into play through using a thoughtful combination of challenging puzzles and creative play. This teaches basic coding principles like problem recognition, algorithms and looping which serve as a foundation for learning how to code.
